Economic Development Priorities

On January 13, 2009, members of Sherman County, Nebraska’s Target Industry Study Group (SCTISG) selected “Housing,” “Workforce Development,” “Expansion of Existing Businesses,” “Technology, “Tourism,” “Value Added Agriculture and Alternative Energy,” and “Entrepreneurship” as their economic growth targets.  To enable further development of a plan to encourage development, retention, expansion, or recruitment of these targets, SCTISG identified the actions and responsible individual(s)/organization in the Sherman County Economic Development Targeting Study of 2009. The process leading to the selection of these target industries included a series of three meetings involving members of SCTISG and economic development specialists from the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).  This study/report summarizes the tasks and the results of each meeting and the overall industry targeting process.
